Thermal Imaging Cameras for Border Security

Thermal imaging cameras are widely used for Homeland Security. Thanks to their ability to detect human-sized targets several kilometers away, they are extremely suited for border surveillance and protection.
Thermal Imaging Cameras for Border Security
and Coastal Surveillance

Protecting a country’s borders is vital to its Homeland Security. It is, however, very challenging to detect potential intruders or smugglers in total darkness or in diverse weather conditions. Thermal imaging cameras can help border control professionals to meet the demands they face at night and in other low-light situations. Thermal imaging cameras can be integrated in a border security project with radars and other sensors in a so called “slew-to-cue” mode. But not only land borders need to be protected. Thernal imaging cameras are the perfect tools for coastal surveillance as well. Small vessels can be detected at extremely long ranges. FLIR Systems has a broad experience with Homeland Security projects and markets a wide variety of thermal imaging cameras for this application. Multi-Sensor Systems are also available. In order to help system integrators that want to include FLIR thermal imaging cameras and third party sensors in a security network we have founded FLIR Networked Systems.

PTZ-35x140 MS
The PTZ-35x140 MS is especially developed for security applications. It is a powerful, multi-sensor, mid-range, thermal imaging system. It features two thermal imaging cameras and one daylight / low light camera. One thermal imager has a wide angle field-of-view and is ideal for situational awareness. The other with the narrow field-of-view is designed for mid-range target recognition. The PTZ-35x140 MS allows you to detect objects, the size of a human being, more than 2 km away, in total darkness, through smoke, light fog and in the most adverse weather conditions.

HRC thumb   HRC-Series
The HRC-Series are equipped with a highly reliable, mid-wave, cooled Indium Antimonide (InSb) detector which offers extremely long range detection in all weather conditions. The cameras offer a continuous zoom. This offers excellent situational awareness while also giving the possibility to zoom in at suspect activities, and have a closer look, once they are detected. The HRC-series can be integrated into existing networks or used portably.
HRC MS thumb   HRC-25x320 MCT / HRC-36x460 MCT
The HRC MCT-series are equipped with a mid-wave, cooled Mercury Cadmium Telluride (MCT) detector which offers extremely long range detection in all weather conditions. The camera head is equipped with switchable optics offering three different fields of view. This provides excellent situational awareness while also giving the possibility to have a closer look at suspect activities once they are detected.
ThermoVision 2000   ThermoVision 2000/3000 MS
The ThermoVision 2000/3000 multi-sensor integrate the long range, long wave imaging systems found in the ThermoVision 2000/3000 with a powerful daylight sensor, GPS, advanced mapping software, and optionally a laser rangefinder. An array of advanced functions and options are available to meet the most demanding needs. Just like for the common versions the user can choose between 320 x 240 pixels or 640 x 480 pixels detectors. Also the multi- sensors can either be fixed mounted or optionally be installed on a Pan/Tilt system to increase situational awareness.
